Awoke early. Cold soaked oatmeal and headed down trail to get out of wind. Looking back to the Fobes Ranch Trail junction I enjoyed the singing of the birds again and the beauty of the desert in its morning glory.

Got to the highway and hitched a ride to Idyllwild. Many drivers are more than willing to give rides to PCT hikers.

In Idyllwild the first thing I did was have a good breakfast. I then picked up a different pack, that had been mailed me, to carry the heavy water hauls ahead. I also returned my water filter and went back to chlorine treatment of my water with Aqua Muir. I have used it for over 10 years and preferred to the filer for convenience and safety.

I then went to the library and used their computer to take care of some physical therapy business and order some shorts to be delivered up trail. I met many hikers in town. All us seemed to be resupplying, doing laundry, getting a shower and finding a place. Had some pizza and went back to campground for a good nights rest but woke at 12:30 am and caught up my blog while I had cell service. Good night.

  1. I’m so thrilled you are making/taking this journey Jack. I’m living vicariously through your experience. May each day be God’s blessing to you.
