5/2/18. Get with sun and go down with sun. That is the rhythm of a long distance hiker. The six of us got up early and headed out. It was cool, windy and cloudy much of day.
It was good to have others to hike and camp with. We hiked between 5000 and 6000 feet elevation most of the day.
After 11 miles we came to spring. We filled up our dirty water containers, then filtered it into our clean containers. Had lunch and rested a bit.
We continued to see more wind turbines and the wind is always there though not as strong as it was a couple of days ago.
Common to the Southern California desert is Poodle dog bush. We usually see it in old burned areas. If you come in contact with it you get a rash much like poison oak.
We hike 20 miles by 5:30 had dinner and went to bed. We call dusk hikers midnight.
