5/4/18 Awoke with dawn as usual. It was clear and warm so didn’t need my puffy (synthetic insulated jacket) to start today.
We dry camped last night so the first order of business was to hike to water cache 6 miles down the trail.
The morning quickly heated up and by lunchtime we are definitely looking for shade. We are back in the desert. I used my umbrella for shade during lunch and hiking through the afternoon. It worked really well.
Though it was hot the wildflowers are beautiful.
I pushed through the afternoon and came to another water cache. I calculated what I needed until the next water source then climbed up to the 7000 foot ridge to spend the evening.
