6/10/18 Last night I camped by a long suspension bridge across the South Fork of the Kings. About 2 miles up the trail I ran into Seal whom I had hike with about 6 weeks earlier. She was hiking off the trail due a medical problem and I continued on with her hiking friend Elizabeth. She was from Austria and had hiked there but had not backpacked. She read the book Wild and decidedly to hike the PCT. Today I climbed over Pinchot Pass and hiked 12 miles.
While climbing up the pass we ran again into Rooster who was leading his horse. He had had the mustang about a year. He had ridden it from the Mexico boarder but needed to lead it in the Sierras due to some injuries and the difficulty of the terrain. At times it was difficult to convince the horse to move up and over the pass especially in the snow.
Needed to cross South Fork of Kings River and fortunately we found large log to slide across on as would have been life threatening to have tried to have attempted fording it.
